8km trail race for runners and walkers and fun family day out.
Entry on Day – Limited number of entries on the day are available for the main race and walk.
Registration open from 10am. Prize-giving at 2pm.
Event HQ is at Wyresdale Park Hall, just outside the village of Scorton near Garstang, PR3 1BA. Car park fee £1 (to cover costs of wear and tear on the field).
Menu of events
-Trail Race & Walk 8km approx. (see route map available on website) Start time for main running race 12.10pm. Walk starts at 1135 (just after the junior race start). Terrain: mainly paths, some road, fairly hilly (beware “The Sting”) , scenic route with great views. Well signposted and marshalled throughout. Drinks at approx. half way. (Certified by Trail Race Association. UKAthletics rules apply). Pre-entries and limited Entry-on-Day (max 300 runners). U16 runners to be accompanied by an adult
-Junior Trail Race (U16s), start time 11.30 This follows an approx 2km trail route, terrain mostly flat with some undulation at half way. Well marshalled and signposted. The Junior Race is competitive for U16s girls and boys with prizes awarded.
-Kiddie events (tasty prizes for all participants): 11.30 start
Bunnies : for toddlers, marked route round the garden – marshalled and chaperoned
Kangaroos: for U7s (approx.), marked route through the grounds – marshalled and chaperoned
Parents can of course run beside their little ones, but we also encourage children to take part independently if they can and for parents to line the route and cheer them all on (loudly!). Each event takes up to 5mins.

Café: “Apple Store” in the walled garden open from 10am Hot and cold food and drinks. Brunch, lunch and afternoon tea
Beautiful grounds and garden. Boating lake (hire costs). Quite likely croquet on the lawn.
Information Point about Defying Dementia
Registration will be open from 10.00am in the Old Garage at Wyresdale Park. Safety pins available.
Race numbers for pre-entries to be collected on the day.
Gift Aid. If you are a UK tax payer and willing to Gift Aid your entry fee, that will increase your individual donation to Defying Dementia by 20%. It’s very easy: we will provide Gift Aid forms for you at Registration – already completed using the details you have given. All you will need to do is to simply sign and confirm that you are a UK taxpayer and happy to Gift Aid. This is of course entirely optional and there will be no pressure on anyone to accept
Photos. Official photos will be taken of every runner. They will available to view on our Facebook page.
Prize-giving for all categories will take place at 1400 in the Old Garage or front lawn.
